WORKSHOPS - Saturday 10.30am - 4pm
From £32 to £36
The Saturday Workshops are conducted by experienced professional artists and tutors in watercolour, oils and acrylics, pastels, pen and ink, gouache, mixed media, drawing and some experimental work. The day usually starts with demonstrations and exercises with a full painting being completed in the afternoon. Students are given individual guidance and attention and all levels of ability are welcome. Those workshops not suitable for beginners are noted in the programme. Some tutors give an informal 'crit' at the end of day and photographs are taken of some paintings which are placed in the Newsletter or Art Gallery. The workshops cover a wide variety of subjects and many students return again and again to cover all of them, but being able to book just one at a time means they can be slotted into a busy schedule as and when students can attend. Should a cancellation be necessary then a credit will be given for another date (a small admin charge is made for any transfers) but should Art Events cancel than a full refund is given. The atmosphere is friendly and fun! The art classes take place in a large, airy room with good parking facilities and a small garden where lunch is taken in the summer. A materials list is provided before each workshop and art materials and references are also available for purchase in class on the day.

3-WEEK MINI-COURSES - Wednesday 2 - 4pm
£30
The three week mini-courses are mainly in watercolour, pen and ink, drawing and some mixed media and are taught by expert professional artists and tutors. Each course focuses on one subject or technique and all levels of ability are welcome. Those courses not suitable for beginners are noted in the programme. Students bring their own art materials but everything necessary for the course, including references, are available on the day. Each student receives individual attention and guidance as well as class exercises and demonstrations. The atmosphere, as with all Art Events courses, is fun and friendly. Some tutors give an informal 'crit' at the end of the course and photographs are taken of a few paintings which are shown in the Newsletter or Art Gallery. The three-week slot is highly convenient for many people and should a cancellation be necessary then a credit will be given for another date (a small admin charge is made for any transfers). Should a course be cancelled by Art Events a full refund is given. Many students take all the courses throughout the term and enjoy the variety on offer.

CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS IN WATERCOLOUR - Wednesdays 2 - 4 pm, some Saturdays 10am - 1pm and Fridays 10 -12
£30 for Wednesday mini-courses, £60 for 4-week course on Fridays and £85 for Saturday morning 5 week course (or £20 per class)
INTRODUCTION TO WATERCOLOUR' is a four-week course on Friday mornings from 10 - 12 am for absolute beginners in watercolour covering the basic techniques of laying a wash, colour mixing, tonal awareness, perspective, creating depth and distance and simple landscapes. The tutor is an experienced professional artist and the aim is to create enough confidence for students to join other classes. Very few art materials are needed for this course, just three colours, a palette and a brush. Drawing boards and paper are included in the fee and all art materials are available for purchase on the day. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and everyone in the class is at the same level - an excellent start to a lifetime's enjoyment of painting! The 5 week course 'WATERCOLOUR FOR BEGINNERS' is designed to take students from the basic laying down of washes and using the materials, through tonal values, colour mixing, composition and finally creating a complete painting. Each lesson can be booked separately, but the full value would be to do the whole course. Some Wednesday mini-courses are also suitable for beginners.
